Today's dose of music history celebrates Donny Hathaway.
1 October 1945: Donny Hathaway was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was a singer who Rolling Stone described as a "soul legend".
Perhaps Hathaway's most influential recording is his 1972 album, Live, which Daryl Easlea of the BBC called "one of the best live albums ever recorded".
